Dihing Patkai trail documents over 260 butterfly species across four rainforest sites

The fourth annual Butterfly & Biodiversity Trail recorded more than 260 butterfly species over a four-day survey across four rainforest sites in and around Dihing Patkai National Park. Of those, 165 were newly recorded for the trail and 37 are endangered.

Two capped langurs were also sighted during the survey.
Students from several universities and colleges took part alongside environmental experts, among them Rashan Upadhyay — known locally as the “Butterfly Man” — and trail founder Rudranshu Ray, who said the initiative would “be carried forward with greater scale and commitment in the coming years.”
