Most free guitar material online is a pile of individual videos with no order to them. JustinGuitar is the opposite: a graded course, taught in sequence, with a practice routine attached to each stage.
How it is structured
The beginner course is split into grades, and each grade into stages. A stage introduces enough new material to keep you busy for a couple of weeks without burying you, and every one comes with a practice routine and ear-training exercises. You work through it in order.
The lessons run on the website and on YouTube. Either an acoustic or an electric guitar works — the course does not assume one.
What you need to start
A guitar, a tuner (a free phone app is fine), and a place to sit where the guitar is visible rather than in its case. The most common reason beginners stop is that the instrument is packed away.
A note on the licence
This one is free to use but it is not openly licensed the way the OpenLearn earthquakes course is. Link to it, learn from it, recommend it — but do not re-upload the videos or hand out copies as your own teaching material.
